American Muslims for Palestine Anti-Israel Ads Run on DC Buses

jew-hate-revised-Geller Breitbart, Apr 9,2014,  by PAMELA GELLER:

They are at it again. But so are we.

A new and viciously anti-Israel ad is running on Washington, DC buses, reading “We’re Sweating April 15 So Israelis Don’t Have To! Stop US Aid to Israel’s Occupation” and featuring a grim-looking Uncle Sam waving an Israeli flag. American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) is the sponsor of this Jew-hating ad, which evokes the ugly anti-Semitic stereotypes in which Jew-haters have long trafficked.

This is part of a systematic campaign by many different Islamic and leftist groups to dehumanize and demonize the Jewish state. This vicious propaganda is running in various forms across the country, unchallenged even by pro-Israel groups that ought to be at the forefront of this battle.

The AMP is run by Dr. Hatem Bazian, a University of California-Berkeley professor who equated the Boston jihad bombings with “Islamophobia.”

How bad has leftist academia become? Bazian teaches a course entitled “De-Constructing Islamophobia and History of Otherness.” One requirement of this class is for students to collect reactions from “people of color” to my ads criticizing jihad terrorism and Islamic supremacism.

Bazian also required his students to tweet weekly on Islamophobia. And he is not the only Islamic supremacist associated with the AMP. Others include Columbia UniversityProfessor Rashid Khalidi, who has called Israel a “racist” state that is “basically an apartheid system in creation”; Imam Ziad Shakir, who has praised the jihad terror group Hamas; Rafeeq Jaber, a strong supporter of the jihad terror group Hizballah; Norman Finkelstein, who has called Zionists “basically Nazis with beards and black hats”; and Max Blumenthal, who has recently published a book-length screed defaming Israel and retailing Palestinian jihad propaganda.

For years, AMP’s ads have run unchallenged. But this time, we were there. Their lies did not stand as the only word. We are fighting back. My organization, the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), has submitted a truth-telling ad to run on the same bus line, on the same city streets, and in the same venues as the Islamic Jew-hatred ad.

Our ad features of photo of Adolf Hitler and his staunch ally, the leader of the Muslim world, Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem, who lived in Berlin during World War II and raised up a division of Bosnian Muslims for the Waffen SS. The ad reads: “Islamic Jew-Hatred: It’s In the Quran. Two-Thirds of All US Aid Goes to Islamic Countries. Stop Racism. End All Aid to Islamic Countries.”

Our organization receives enormous abuse and defamation for responding to these disgusting lies. Who can forget the media sympathizing with CNN “journalist” Mona Eltahawy when she physically destroyed one of our ads and attacked an innocent bystander for trying to protect it?

Increasingly, we see that the more you speak the truth, the uglier the enemy’s response becomes–which of course makes us smile. And Washington Metro demanded that I provide substantiation for every claim in this ad. And this is nothing new. Every time I submit an ad, I have to provide evidence of everything I am asserting. I’d like to know if the AMP is held to the same standard. How would they possibly provide evidence for their ad–show photos of Americans sweating while Israelis luxuriated in ease? Their ad is an outrageous libel–well-distributed and well-worn.

Now more than ever, we have to educate the American people. And we are getting it done. AFDI fights the propaganda putsch of the AMP and other leftist and Islamic supremacist groups by going on the offense and taking the message to the people. We’re bringing the truth about Israel, the global jihad against free people, and Islamic supremacism directly to the people. We force a media discussion of the grim realities of jihad and Sharia that they usually sweep under the rug.

Now more than ever, when voices and work like ours are increasingly silenced, we have to be bolder and go on the offense.

Hamas Imposes Radical New Law: Lashings, Amputations, and Massive Executions

Illinois Islamist Conference ‘Educates’ Next Generation

AMP’s Conference logo shows map of entire state of Israel. Possibly hinting at their aim to destroy the state?

By Ryan Mauro

American Muslims for Palestine has added four more Islamists to their lineup of speakers for their conference near Chicago on November 22-25 (not to be confused with the another Islamist conference,  the 11th annual convention of the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America in Chicago on December 22-25).

The program for the event also reflects an Islamist agenda, including a session that legitimizes Palestinian terrorism. And most disturbingly, there’s a session about how to teach these beliefs to children.

AMP recently condemned Israeli strikes on terrorist targets in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and demanded an end to U.S. foreign aid to Israel, but did not even mention the more than 200 rockets and missiles that Hamas has fired at Israeli cities since November 10.

The original lineup included at least nine Islamists that RadicalIslam.org reported earlier in our article Brotherhood/Hamas-Linked Activist in Illinois for Extremist Event.

The additional four are as follows:

Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, who unsuccessfully sought the Egyptian presidency. He wanted the constitution to have Sharia and its principles as the main source of legislation, though he said this may not include its criminal law. Fotouh was a Muslim Brotherhood member since the early 1970’s, serving in a senior leadership capacity from 1987 to 2009 in the Guidance Bureau. His membership was suspended when he ran for president against the Brotherhood’s wishes. At the time, the Brotherhood said it would not seek the presidency but later reversed course and won.

Abdelfattah Mourou Abdelfattah Mourou is a co-founder of the Islamist Al-Nahda political party of Tunisia. Another founder is Rachid Ghannouchi, a supporter of Hamas with a history of very extreme preaching.

Imam Zaid Shakir Imam Zaid Shakir is no stranger to readers of RadicalIslam.org. We’ve documented his ongoing extremist preaching. He says that Hezbollah’s bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Lebanon in 1983 was not a terrorist attack, writes anti-American poems and told the New York Times in 2006 that “he still hoped that one day the United States would be a Muslim country ruled by Islamic law.” In one lecture, he legitimized a potential hijacking of airplanes transporting U.S. soldiers.

Shiekh Mohammad al-Hanooti Shiekh Mohammad al-Hanooti was President of the Islamic Association of Palestine from 1978 to 1990, an organization that was a Muslim Brotherhood front that rallied support for Hamas. The Investigative Project on Terrorism reports that he attended a secret meeting of Brotherhood and Hamas supporters in Philadelphia in 1993 that was wiretapped by the FBI. Al-Hanooti was named a “possible unindicted co-conspirator” in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and also was an imam at two other prominent mosques linked to Hamas and the Brotherhood: The Islamic Center of Passaic County (1990 to 1995) and Dar al-Hijrah (1995 to 1999).

The recently published AMP program shows numerous Islamist themes. One session claims that the Arab Spring was inspired by “decades of Palestinian resistance.” Critics of the Islamist network in America are attacked in a session about “Islamophobia.”

The conference also ridicules U.S. counter-terrorism efforts and blasts “U.S. policies that are working to reduce Palestinians as a people, both physically and morally.” The program claims “solidarity work for Palestine is being criminalized more every day,” a reference to the prosecution of Muslim activists like Sami al-Arian and the five Holy Land Foundation officials for their involvement with Palestinian terrorist groups.

One session, titled, “The dialectic of occupation and right of resistance,” sounds like it will be a legitimization of terrorism disguised as an intellectual discourse. It will feature activists engaged in “peaceful resistance” and experts who will “put this into context of the greater picture of the internationally guaranteed right to resist occupation.”

Brotherhood/Hamas-Linked Activists Gather in Illinois for Extremist Event

by: Ryan Mauro

On November 22-25, activists with links to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas will come together at the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort in Illinois for American Muslims for Palestine’s (AMP) Conference for Palestine in the U.S.: A Movement United. The event also highlights the Islamists’ success in forging interfaith partnerships with Reverend Donald Wagner of Evangelicals for Middle East Understanding as one of the speakers.

The AMP conference logo

American Muslims for Palestine isn’t just about Palestinian statehood. It’s about the elimination of Israel. Michael Rubin points out that “Its home page depicts the conference logo—a map of Palestine made from birds showing the Palestinian state encompassing all of Israel. So much for the two-state solution.”

AMP conferences promote Islamist thought. In 2004, its chairman, Hatem Bazian, praised the “uprising in Iraq” (which was against U.S. soldiers) and the “intifada in Palestine” and said an American intifada is needed to “change fundamentally the political dynamics here.” He boasted, “They’re gonna say some Palestinian [is] being too radical – well, you haven’t seen radicalism yet.”

In June, Bazian described the U.S. as a racist country that tries to get “darker people [to] fight our war.” He teaches that the “military-industrial complex” is promoting “Islamophobia” and is persecuting Muslim leadership in the U.S. in order to build support for wars against Muslims overseas.

AMP board member Osama Abu Irshaid, another speaker at the conference, describes the firing of rockets into Israel by Hamas as a form of “legitimate resistance.” He used to be the editor of an Arabic publication made by the now-defunct Islamic Association for Palestine, which the American Muslim Brotherhood’s internal documents identify as having been one of its fronts set up to support Hamas.

Another board member is Salah Sarsour. His brother was arrested by Israel in 1998 and informed his interrogators that Salah was financing Hamas through the Islamic Association for Palestine and the Holy Land Foundation. The latter was shut down by the U.S. government and five of its officials were convicting of funding terrorism. He even said that Sarsour transferred funds to a Hamas military commander.

The conference, which has Turkish Airlines as a sponsor, features some of the top Brotherhood-linked speakers, including:

Nihad Awad, the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The federal government named CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land trial, listing it among “individuals/entities who are and/or were members of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee.” Awad declared his support for Hamas in 1994. In 2004, he refused to condemn Hamas and Hezbollah, instead choosing to call them “liberation movements.”

Safaa Zarzour, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Society of North America. Like CAIR, it was designated an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land trial and was listed by the government as a Muslim Brotherhood entity. FBI investigators identified ISNA as a Brotherhood front as far back as 1987. A 1991 American Muslim Brotherhood document also lists it as one of “our organizations and the organizations of our friends.”

Jamal Badawi, who is listed in an American Muslim Brotherhood directory from 1992 and is a listed unindicted co-conspirator for his fundraising on behalf of the Holy Land Foundation. He is a founder of the Muslim American Society, a Brotherhood front. In 1999, he justified suicide bombings, saying, “So when an act of heroism like that is required to save others, it is self-sacrifice, you cannot really call it suicide.” In February 2009, he criticized the West for describing “martyrs” from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip as terrorists.  In March 2010, he said Islam justifies the “combative jihad” of Palestinians.

State Dept. Officials Meet With Brotherhood-Linked Activist

Osama Abu Irshaid

by: Ryan Mauro

American Muslims for Palestine boasts that a member of its national board, Osama Abu Irshaid, was part of a delegation organized by the U.S. Campaign for the End of the Israeli Occupation that met with State Department officials on June 26. Irshaid says that Hamas rocket fire (which target civilian population centerss) are a form of “legitimate resistance” and he used to be the editor of a Muslim Brotherhood front’s newspaper.

Irshaid used to be the editor of the Islamic Association for Palestine’s Arabic newspaper, Al-Zaytounah. Internal Muslim Brotherhood documents unequivocally confirm that this organization was one of its fronts set up to promote the Hamas agenda. IAP events and publications consistently featured Hamas propaganda.

The Investigative Project on Terrorism documents that he refers to Hamas as “the resistance” and justified its firing of rockets into Israel.

“So instead of blaming the victim [Hamas], we should look at the criminal and the murderer. And instead of blaming the victim that even though if they’re firing rockets, regardless, now this is according to the international law should be a legitimate resistance, because they are under occupation,” he said.

The group Irshaid is currently a board member of, American Muslims for Palestine, calls for the destruction of Israel and features Brotherhood-linked speakers. Its event in Illinois on November 22-25 has many Brotherhood-linked speakers that have stated their support for Hamas and suicide bombings.
