Saudi Arabia Sentences Editor to 7 Years in Prison and 600 Lashes

RaifThe editor of a social website in Saudi Arabia was sentenced to seven years in prison and 600 lashes for insulting Islam and violating the Kingdom’s anti-cybercrime law.  Raif Badawi, the online editor of the “Free Saudi Liberals” forum was also found guilty of “parental disobedience” (a crime in Saudi Arabia) which resulted the criminal court adding another three months to his sentence.

Badawi had left the country in 2008 after the initial charges of insulting Islam were filed against him. After being told that the charges were dropped, he returned, only to be barred from leaving the country again. His business assets were also frozen at the time.

Badawi was moderating a forum that promotes “liberal thinking” by encouraging participants to voice their opinion about religion in the Kingdom.

Charges of apostasy – a crime in the Kingdom that carries the death penalty – that were pending against Badawi were dropped after Badawi testified in court that he is a Muslim. According to his lawyer, the court required Badawi to recite the Shehadeh, the Muslim declaration of faith, in order to drop to apostasy charges.

Badawi founded the online platform in 2008 “to encourage debate on religious and political matters in Saudi Arabia,” according to Human Rights Watch.  The group also said that the judge affirmed that “liberalism is akin to unbelief.”

Nasim Ben Iman, Apostate from Islam in Germany warns the West

22685-Heute-liebt-er-die-die-ihn-hassenGates of Vienna:

The following video from Germany, originally posted at Politically Incorrect, contains excerpts from an interview with an apostate from Islam.

Nassim Ben Iman warns his audience that Westerners are being dangerously naïve about Islam and blind to the Islamization of Europe, which has been planned for a long time and is now well underway. As PI notes:

Nassim Ben Iman is one of the best-known apostates of Islam in Germany.

He has written a book of his own experiences entitled: “Der wahre Feind… warum ich kein Terrorist geworden bin” / “The true enemy…why I did not become a terrorist”. In view of the present Islamic terror threat in Germany, his statements about the danger of Islam are more topical than ever.

This ex-Muslim of Arab origin has a lot to tell, and offers us a deep insight into the most peaceful of all religions. As one of only a very small number, he managed to extract himself from the strict Islamic indoctrination. He tells brutal truths such as “Every Muslim is a potential terrorist”. We have distilled the most important points of an extensive interview with this courageous man which we conducted in May of this year into a ten-minute video, because of the acute terrorism danger.

Warning: this video is not recommended for “do-gooders” whose carefully constructed worldview could, when they watch this film, disintegrate.

Former Muslims

muslims prayingby ED  ZIEGLER

In response to the violent  actions and  intense  hatred by  many  Muslims toward non-Muslims, my articles frequently attempt to  acquaint freedom loving people with the undeniable fact the goal of these  Muslims is to force the world to submit to Islam.

Fanatic Muslims consist of approximately 120 million followers of Islam  world-wide. Many of their religious leaders advocate killing apostates in  accordance with verses in the Quran such as vers 4-89   “Take not from  among them until they fly in Allah’s way. But if they turn back seize them and  KILL them wherever you find them.”

There is a small but growing number of ex-Muslims who realized that Islam is  not a peace loving religion as proclaimed. “Mohammed is God’s apostle.   Those who follow him are harsh to the unbelievers but merciful to one  another.”  Quran 48:29.  By denouncing their Islamic faith, these  apostates have put their lives on the line.

Also there are Muslims such as Dr. Zudhi Jasser, founder of  The  American Islamic Forum for Democracy, whose mission is to advocate for the  preservation of the founding principles of the United States Constitution.

There is another group, “Former Muslims United” (FMU), which seeks to protect  former Muslims from persecution by those who believe in Islamic dogma which  requires punishment of apostates. FMU is outspoken against honor killings and  rejects punishment for leaving the Islamic faith.

A former Egyptian Muslim, Nonie Darwish, is the Director of FMU, a human  rights activist and founder of Arabs For Israel. She also authored books: “Now  They Call Me Infidel; Why I Renounced Jihad for America, Israel and the War on  Terror” and “Cruel and Usual Punishment; The Terrifying Global Implications of  Islamic Law.”

Nonie said she converted because she experienced love, peace and compassion  while attending a Christian school. She compared this with the harsh teaching in  Islamic text books and preached in Mosques. In Mosques you hear the holy man  preach “May God destroy all the infidel and Jews the enemy of God.” Nonie stated  that terrorism is violent jihad and the duty of every Muslim. She explained that  the sword is a symbol for conquering the world.

Interview with Nonie Darwish:

Wafa Sultan, an apostate, was born into a large, traditional Alawite Muslim  family in Baniyas, Syria. Wafa is a medical doctor, an American author and  critic of Muslim society and Islam.   I challenge everyone to listen  to Wafa’s plea (Former  Muslims United: Wafa Sultan – YouTube). Her short eye opening narrative will  dispel any idea that you may have that Islam is a religion of peace.

Sabatina James, a convert to Christianity, came from a strict Pakistani  family. She claims that after she refused to marry a man her parents had chosen.  Her father told her, “The honor of this family is more important than my life or  your life” and her mother wanted her dead.” James has lived in fear of being  murdered for leaving the Islamic faith. Since 2001 she has moved at least 16  times.

The Quran and the hadith call for the death of those who turn away from  Islam. Even though, throughout the centuries, individuals around the world have  openly risked their lives denouncing Islam. Go to http://www.answering-islam.org/Testimonies/index.html  for a list of such brave people. To listen to a number of former Muslims being  interviewed by the Chief Counsel of The American Center for Law and Justice go  to  http://www.answering-islam.org/Testimonies/index.html.

It is very important to remember the danger we are in with over 100 million  fanatic Muslins who are willing to kill non-Muslims to force the world to adhere  to Islam. Afshin Ellian a former Iranian Muslim fled the Middle East to the  Netherlands. There he became a professor of Law, philosopher, poet and out  spoken critic of Islam. One of Afshin’s quotes is “Radical Islamists are so  determined to prove Islam is the religion of peace that they are willing to kill  for it.”

For six years Ed Ziegler has been researching and writing articles on the War  Against Terrorism and anti-Semitism. Ed is an activist who believes freedom is  worth fighting for and that everyone should be involved.

The Tip of the Iceberg of Christian Persecution

by Raymond Ibrahim
Special to IPT News

Two Christians living in the Islamic world under arrest and awaiting execution—the one charged with apostasy, the other with blasphemy—were just released.

According to a September 8 report on CNN, “A Christian pastor sentenced to death in Iran for apostasy was reunited with his family Saturday after a trial court acquitted him… Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, born to Muslim parents and a convert to Christianity by age 19, was released after being held in prison for almost three years under a death sentence…. Setting aside the death sentence, a trial court convicted Nadarkhani of a lesser charge—evangelizing Muslims—and declared that his prison sentence had already been served…  His case drew international attention after his October 2009 arrest, and the 34-year-old pastor refused to recant his Christian beliefs.”

In a separate story published the same day, “Pakistani authorities on Saturday released a teenage Christian girl detained over accusations of blasphemy,” for allegedly burning pages of a Koran. Up till then, local Muslims were calling for the death of the 14-year-old Christian girl, Rimsha Masih, warning that, if released, they would “take the law into their own hands.”

Why were these two Christians released—when both apostasy and blasphemy are great crimes in Islam, punishable by death? Is this a sign that Iran and Pakistan are reforming, becoming more “moderate”? One U.S. paper, for example, optimistically offers the following title, “Rescue of Christian Girl may be Turning Point in Abuse of Blasphemy Law.”

Nadarkhani and Masih were certainly not released because their governments are acting according to universal standards of justice or reason. If so, they would not have been arrested in the first place. Nor do these releases suggest that Iran or Pakistan are rethinking their Islamic apostasy and blasphemy laws.

The fact is, there are many more Christians imprisoned in both countries for apostasy and blasphemy. Unlike Nadarkhani and Masih, however, the Western mainstream has never heard of these unfortunate Christians.

And that’s the whole difference.

In Iran, where at least as early as 1990 a convert to Christianity, Pastor Hossein Soodmand, was executed by the state, apostates from Islam are under siege. A few examples from the last few months include:

• A six-year prison sentence for Pastor Farshid Fathi Malayeriwhose crime was to convert to and preach Christianity—was upheld last July following an unsuccessful appeal hearing.

• Another prominent house church pastor, Benham Irani, remains behind bars even as his family expresses concerns that he may die from continued abuse and beatings, leading to internal bleeding and other ailments. The verdict against him contains text that describes the pastor as an apostate who “can be killed.” According to one activist, “His ‘crimes’ were being a pastor and possessing Christian materials.” He is being beaten in jail and getting sick, to the point that his hair has “turned fully gray.”

• A woman, Leila Mohammadi, who had earlier converted to Christianity was arrested when security agents raided her house. Imprisoned for five months in Iran’s notorious Evin prison without any word on her fate, she was later sentenced to two years in prison.

• A June 17 report indicated that, five months after five Christian converts were arrested, their condition and fate had remained unknown. They were accused of “attending house church services, promoting Christianity, propagating against the regime and disturbing national security.” Being imprisoned for 130 days without word “is an obvious example of physical and mental abuse of the detainees….  one of the prison guards openly told one of these Christian detainees that all these pressures and uncertainties are intended to make them flee the country after they are released.”

• A young woman, who had recently converted to Christianity and was an outspoken activist against the Islamic regime, was found dead, slumped over her car’s steering wheel, with a single gunshot wound to her head.

Then there are Iran’s many other faces of Christian persecution, including the shutting down of churches, regular crackdowns on house-church gatherings, detaining and abusing Christians, banning church services in Farsi, and confiscating Bibles and other Christian literature.

As for Pakistan’s blasphemy law—which calls for the death penalty—here are a few stories from the last few months:

• A Muslim mob doused a man with gasoline and literally burned him alive for “blaspheming” the Koran (graphic picture here).

• A 26-year-old Christian woman was arrested after neighbors accused her of “uttering remarks against Muhammad.” A few days prior, some of her relatives who converted to Islam had pressured her to do likewise: “She refused, telling them that she was satisfied with Christianity and did not want to convert.” She was arrested of blasphemy soon thereafter.

• A female Christian teacher was targeted by Muslims due to allegations that she burned a Koran. A mob stormed her school in an attempt to abduct her, but police took her into custody.

• A Christian man was arrested and charged with “blasphemy” for rescuing his 8-year-old nephew from a beating at the hands of Muslim boys who sought to force the boy to convert to Islam.  Later, “a Muslim mob of about 55 led by the village prayer leader besieged the Christian’s house,” and insisted that “the blasphemer” be turned over to them.

• A banned Islamic group attempted to burn down a Christian village after accusing a 25-year-old mentally retarded Christian man of “blasphemy.”

• A 20-year-old Christian man was arrested and charged with “blasphemy” after Muslims accused him of burning a Koran soon after a billiard game. The Muslims kept taunting and threatening him, to which the Christian “dared them to do whatever they wanted and walked away.” Days later came the accusation and arrest, which caused Muslim riots, creating “panic among Christians” who “left their houses anticipating violence.”

In the last two decades, over 50 people have been murdered in Pakistan for blasphemy. Even the recent assassination of the nation’s only cabinet-level Christian, Shahbaz Bhatti, was in retaliation for his being an outspoken critic of Pakistan’s “blasphemy” laws.

Egypt: Kill a Christian, Collect a Reward

The three sheikhs (from left, Abdullah, Mohsin, and Sha’ban) call for the death of all who insult Islam on live TV.

by Raymond Ibrahim:

The flyers include the names and contact points for those Muslims who wish to collect their rewards for killing Christians.

Recently an Egyptian Muslim posted a YouTube videotape of himself cursing Islam and its holy book, the Koran; then tearing it to pieces and throwing it in the garbage. Here are excerpts of what he said:

There it is, Allah’s book; this is the basic catastrophe. I don’t know what day it is of this disgusting month of Ramadan. You are making the tearing of the Quran such a big and dangerous thing… it is instinctive to tear up this book, those sons of [profanity] think they can threaten me and challenge me not to tear up the Quran, but I want to prove to them that they are nothing, and what is the big deal in tearing up this book?! There it is [he starts tearing the Quran] in the trash. Are you feeling better now? You cannot touch a hair on my head. We keep blaming Hamas and Gaza, but it is not them, it is this son of [profanity] book that I am stepping on right now. That book is the source of all evil and the real catastrophe. There is nothing new here; it is not Omar Abdel Rahman, Abbud or all the others: it is this garbage that is causing us to run in a demonic, never-ending circle that will never end.

This latest Koran desecration is a reminder of the new Egypt—not merely that there are everyday Egyptians who are sick of the Islamization of Egypt, but aghast at what is in store for them.

On a recent talk show on Al Hafiz channel dealing with this incident of Koran-tearing, after playing the video of the man tearing the Koran, one of the guests, a bearded and white-robed Dr. Mahmoud Sha’ban, visibly shaken by what he had just seen, said:

Someone like him must receive the punishment he deserves—and it is death! He is an apostate… It is clear from what he says that he is a Muslim, and must be killed as an apostate. As for that act itself, it is an infidel act, and he deserves to be struck by the sword in a public place—and as soon as possible; as soon as possible; as soon as possible. It must be announced and photographed and disseminated among the people, so that all the people may know that we respect our Koran and its words from Allah, and whoever insults it, receives his punishment from Allah. If people like him are left alone, they will only get bolder and bolder.

The next guest, Sheikh Abdul Mohsin said: “I support the words of Sheikh Mahmoud [who just spoke], that this man must be killed fast, that he may be an example to others, so that all learn that we have reached a new phase in respecting Islam and the holy sanctity of the Koran and Sunna. This man has become an apostate and must suffer the penalty in front of the people.”

The third and final guest Dr. Abdullah was somewhat critical of the first two Islamic scholars—not because they called for the man’s death, but because, by focusing on the fact that the man had apostatized, it seemed as if they were exonerating non-Muslims: “The issue of killing him is not limited to his being a Muslim and then apostatizing. No, it is known to us from the Sharia that whoever insults the Prophet or tears the Koran, his judgment is death—whether he’s a Muslim or non-Muslim.”

Later, a listener called in saying, “Just so you know, if I ever meet one of these people, their life is void—they’re simply dead.” The talk show host, who agreed that the man must be slain, responded with some moderate talk about letting the state handle such people, to which the first sheikh, Dr. Mahmoud Sha’ban, erupted in rage:

“Man, we’re talking about the religion of Allah! The religion! The religion!! The woman who insulted the Prophet, he voided her life! There were ten people at the conquest of Mecca whose lives the Prophet also voided!” When the host tried to get a word in, the cleric exclaimed: “I am the sheikh, not you. I am the sheikh, not you! I am the sheikh! Hear me to the end, before I get up and leave!”

Video: AFDI/SIOA’s Summer Night for Human Rights

Jihad Watch

This video went up the night of the AFDI/SIOA Summer Night for Human Rights, as the event was livestreamed; however, many people have been asking me if a video is available, so by popular demand I am posting it again. Note that the conference actually starts at 6:20 of the video.

The world ignores the oppression, subjugation and slaughter of non-Muslims and secular Muslims under the Sharia. We called for human rights and equality for all under the law.

Hamas-linked CAIR held a cynical and propagandistic “A Summer Night for Civil Rights” down the street from our event, featuring “Islamophobia” victimhood posturing from Islamic supremacist hate propagandist Dean Obeidallah and others — with nary a word about the plight of apostates from Islam or other victims of human rights abuses sanctioned by Islamic law. At our “Summer Night for Human Rights” we called them out on their hypocrisy. The world’s leading apostates from Islam spoke at our AFDI/SIOA event in Manhattan Beach, California

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer hosted:

Nonie Darwish: Ex-Muslim and human rights activist raised in Gaza; director of Former Muslims United; author of Now They Call Me Infidel; Cruel and Usual Punishment; and The Devil We Don’t Know.

Ibn Warraq: Pakistani ex-Muslim and renowned scholar; author of Why I Am Not A Muslim; The Quest for the Historical Muhammad; Leaving Islam; Why the West Is Best; and many other books.

Walid Shoebat: Palestinian former jihad terrorist and member of the Muslim Brotherhood; now a Christian and a peace activist.

Ishmail Zarouali: Originally from Morocco, the son of a religious Muslim family. Because of rumors that he was an apostate, he was stabbed several times in his stomach and left for dead on the streets of Morocco by people crying “apostate.” Now he has gained asylum in the U.S.

Dr. Bushra Qader: Originally from Iraq, she is an activist for the rights of former Muslims.

Ramin Parsha: Iranian NajatTV host who was born and raised as a devout Shiite Muslim is Shiraz, Iran. He is associate Pastor at Nejat Church with Pastor Reza Safa, who also was an Islamic supremacist in Iran and is now one of the most prominent ex-Muslim Christian pastors in America.

Amani Mustafa: Ex-Muslim from Egypt, TV producer and host of a Christian show, The Muslim Woman, appealing to Muslim women in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula. Her show reaches 300 million households globally with 50 million viewers per live program.

Mohammed Asghar: Originally from Bangladesh, ex-Muslim author and an authority on the Qur’an.

We stood against sharia and the death penalty for Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, sentenced to death in Iran for apostasy. All the schools of Islamic law, without exception, mandate death for those who leave Islam. We dedicated the Town Hall to Pastor Youcef because he is in imminent danger of being murdered for his beliefs, and we invited numerous apostates from Islam to speak about the death sentence they must live under every moment because they have dared to leave Islam. We called upon Hamas-linked CAIR to stand up for Pastor Youcef and other victims of Islam’s apostasy law, and to stand for human rights for all.

Events like this one are crucial for raising public awareness of the nature of the conflict we are in, and that threatens to destroy our freedoms. But they’re prohibitively expensive to hold.
