BY RYAN MAURO:

The United Arab Emirates has joined Egypt and Saudi Arabia in listing the Muslim Brotherhood as a banned terrorist group with 81 other groups, including many Brotherhood affiliates. The list includes two U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entities and one British group with a branch in America: the Council on American-Islamic Relations(CAIR), the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the U.K.-based Islamic Relief Worldwide, the parent organization of Islamic Relief USA.

CAIR was labeled an unindicted co-conspirator in the trial of a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity named the Holy Land Foundation for financing Hamas. The U.S. Justice Department also listed CAIR as an entity of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee, a secret body established to support Hamas.

MAS was “founded as the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in America,” federal prosecutors said in a 2008 court filing. Abdurrahman Alamoudi, a convicted terrorism-financier and admitted member of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood, testified in 2012, “Everyone knows that MAS is the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Islamic Relief Worldwide/Islamic Relief USA has extensive Muslim Brotherhood links. Israel banned the group this summer for financing Hamas, and it is also known to work closely with a Hamas-linked group in Turkey.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been calling for a Gulf coalition against the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran since 2012. In March, the UAE pledged to work with Saudi Arabia after it branded the Brotherhood as a terrorist group, but the UAE did not officially do the same until now.

The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have put tremendous pressure on Qatar for its support of Islamist terrorists including the Muslim Brotherhood. The UAE teamed up with Egypt to bomb Islamist militias in Libya and to support secular military forces there. Most recently, the UAE carried our airstrikes on the Islamic State in Syria in coordination with the U.S.

The banning of these organizations brings significant risks. The Muslim Brotherhood, Iranian proxies and Al-Qaeda affiliates are powerful and can threaten the UAE in many ways. The Brotherhood’s lobbies in Europe and the U.S. will use their political influence to their advantage.

GA Senate Candidate on Defense Over Links to ‘Islamic Relief’

michelle-nunn-HPBY RYAN MAURO:

Michelle Nunn, the Democratic Party candidate for the Senate in Georgia, is on the defensive over revelations from a leaked campaign strategy memo that her charity assisted Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA).The Israeli government reportedly banned IRUSA’s parent group,Islamic Relief Worldwide, for financing Hamas but the organization says its operations have not been shut down.

Nunn’s strategy memo was published by National Review Online, which referenced the Clarion Project’s research on IRUSA in its coverage of the document.

The memo identifies potential vulnerabilities in Nunn’s campaign, such as “service award to inmates, terrorists” by the Points of Light charity when she was its CEO. The charity was originally founded by former President George H.W. Bush in 1987.

The memo does not state which “terrorists” the charity may be criticized for working with. However, National Review reported that the charity’s IRS Form 990s from 2008 and 2011 show Points of Light awarded a grant of over $33,000 to IRUSA.

Nunn’s campaign is downplaying her former charity’s links. It claims that there was no direct funding and the relationship was limited to vetting IRUSA for EBay. Points of Light had a program named MissionFish that approved charities for EBay so they could receive donations from auctioneers.

Notably, the Nunn campaign is not defending IRUSA. The documented extremist ties of the charity cannot be credibly disputed. And the evidence existed prior to her appointment as CEO of Points of Light.

In 2006, Israel arrested the project director of Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRUSA’s parent organization) for allegedly financing Hamas. The Israeli Defense Ministry says he admitted to working with Hamas operatives and entities in the Palestinian Territories and Jordan. Evidence on his laptop provided further evidence linking IRW to Hamas.

The Defense Ministry statement reads in part:

“The IRW provides support and assistance to Hamas’s infrastructure. The IRW’s activities in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip are carried out by social welfare organizations controlled and staffed by Hamas operatives. The intensive activities of these associations are designed to further Hamas’s ideology among the Palestinian population.”

The Nunn campaign’s defense misses the point.

Under her helm from 2007 to 2013, Points of Light approved of a charity accused of financing Hamas. The issue of whether there was direct financing from Points of Light to IRUSA is secondary. The degree to which she was involved in approving of IRUSA is unknown, but she can be faulted for failing to set a standard that prohibited assistance to Islamist groups with links to Hamas.

UK Funds Terror Connections: Islamic Relief Worldwide

download (6)by Samuel Westrop:

The large number of links between Islamic Relief Worldwide and extremist terror groups suggests that buried beneath the cover of a charity lies a structured pro-terror group with an anti-Western agenda.

Islamic Relief Worldwide [IRW] is the poster-child of an exemplary Islamic charity. Headquartered in the UK, and given tens of millions of dollars by Western governments, the United Nations and the European Union, IRW consists of a “family of fifteen aid agencies” which “aim to alleviate the suffering of the world’s poorest people.” New information, however, indicates that IRW — which counts Islamic Relief UK and Islamic Relief USA as its most important branches — is an extremist organization with a pro-terror agenda. IRW has worked with a significant number of organizations linked to terrorism.

IRW’s accounts show that it has partnered with a number of organizations linked to terrorism and that some of charity’s trustees are personally affiliated with extreme Islamist groups that have connections to terror.

In 2006, the Israeli Ministry for Foreign Affairs designated IRW itself a terrorist front, and claimed that:

“The IRW provides support and assistance to Hamas’s infrastructure. The IRW’s activities in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip are carried out by social welfare organizations controlled and staffed by Hamas operatives. The intensive activities of these associations are designed to further Hamas’s ideology among the Palestinian population.”

In May of 2006, Israeli police arrested IRW’s Gaza coordinator, Ayaz Ali. The Israeli government stated Ali had assisted Hamas-related institutions and groups such as Al Wafa and Al Tzalah, both of which are designated terror organizations in Israel. According to the Israeli government, Ali also said that he had cooperated with local Hamas operatives in Jordan:

“Incriminating files were found on Ali’s computer, including documents that attested to the organization’s ties with illegal Hamas funds abroad (in the UK and in Saudi Arabia) and in Nablus. Also found were photographs of swastikas superimposed on IDF symbols, of senior Nazi German officials, of Osama Bin Laden and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, as well as many photographs of Hamas military activities … Ali admitted that he was aware that several of the organizations supported by the IRW in Judea, Samaria and Gaza were indeed identified with Hamas.” [Author's emphasis]

For several years, IRW has supported the Islamic University of Gaza, where, during 2008, rockets and explosives were produced for use by Hamas. One of the most senior Hamas leaders, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, founded the university in 1978, and sixteen of the university’s lecturers and teachers are elected Hamas members of the Palestinian legislature.

Scottish Government Funds Pro-Terror Group

islamic-reliefby Samuel Westrop:

Although the Scottish government may be convinced it is engaging with the Muslim community, in truth it is funding Islamist groups with extremist agendas and ties to terrorism.

The Daily Express revealed last week that Islamic Relief Worldwide, a British charity accused of links to terrorism, was presented with £398,000 of the taxpayers’ money by the Scottish Government last year, as part of its £9 million International Development Fund.

The funding was announced by Scottish politician Humza Yousaf, formerly the Media spokesperson for Islamic Relief Worldwide, and currently a Scottish National Party Member of the Scottish Parliament and Minister for External Affairs and International Development. This grant comes in addition to the European Union’s grant of €22 million provided to Islamic Relief Worldwide between 2007 and 2011.

In 1999, Islamic Relief Worldwide received a payment of $50,000 from a Canadian charity that the US Department of the Treasury identified as a “Bin Laden front”. In 2005, the Russian Government accused Islamic Relief of supporting terrorism in Chechnya.

In 2006, the Israeli Government designated Islamic Relief a “terrorist front.” After three weeks’ detention in Israel, the head of Islamic Relief’s operations in Gaza, Ayaz Ali, was deported by Israeli authorities after being accusedof funneling money to banned organizations and storing images of swastikas and Osama bin Laden on his computer.

In November 2012, the Swiss Bank UBS closed the account of, and blocked all donations to, Islamic Relief due to “counter-terror concerns.”

A considerable number of Islamic Relief officials are also connected to extremist groups:

  • Ibrahim El-Zayat, a trustee of Islamic Relief, is a leader in both the European and the German Muslim Brotherhood, an extremist Islamist organization with branches all around the world.
  • Dr. Ahmed Al-Rawi, the former head of the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe (FIOE) and the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB), was also previously a director of Islamic Relief. FIOE is a leading advocate of jihadist Egyptian scholar, Yusuf Al-Qaradawi.
  • Issam Al-Bashir, a former Director of Islamic Relief, is the former Minister of Religious Affairs in the Sudan and has held many positions associated with the global Muslim Brotherhood.
  • Dr. Hani Al-Banna, the co-founder of Islamic Relief Worldwide, was formerly affiliated with Muslim Aid, a London-based Islamic “charity” which was previously a “partner organization” of the Al-Salah Islamic Association. The US Government has officially designated Al Salah a terrorist entity.

$200 Million U.S. Islamic Charity Linked to Muslim Brotherhood

250x306x4u4EtHF6zsEx_png_pagespeed_ic_i5omkPTRyfBy Ryan Mauro:

RadicalIslam.org has discovered that four officials of Islamic Relief USA, a charity that reported a whopping $182 million in revenue in 2010, have Muslim Brotherhood ties. One appears to have been arrested in Egypt in 2009 and another has even defended Hamas as “freedom fighters.” RadialIslam.org. previously documented IRUSA’s Islamist ties in an expose about the Obama Administration’s embrace of the group, including having its CEO serve as a State Department and USAID adviser.

As stated in our previous article, Americans for Peace and Tolerance discovered that IRUSA president and board chairman Mohamed Amr Attawia is listed as the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood New England director in a 1991 phone directory.

He was also once the Vice President of the Muslim American Society, which federal prosecutors say “was founded as the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in America.” Abdurrahman Alamoudi, an admitted secret U.S. Muslim Brotherhood member that was convicted on terrorism-related charges, said in January, “Everyone knows that MAS is the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Now, RadicalIslam.org has found three more IRUSA officials with Muslim Brotherhood links, two of which have also held positions in MAS.
