Pearson’s World History text book continues to push biased, imbalanced view of Islam on students

Pearson’s World History text book continues to push biased, imbalanced view of Islam on students.

IsbFlorida Family Association:

The same company that published a high school text book which embellishes Islamists and belittles Judaism and Christianity also has ownership in The Economist, a leading advertiser on Al Jazeera America.

Prentice Hall’s World History text book with its biased presentation of Islam continues to be used in numerous school districts.  Parents have voiced concern in several school districts regarding the book’s dishonest rewrite of history regarding Islam and the omission of Judaism and Christianity.

Pearson plc owns Prentice Hall.  Pearson also owns a fifty percent stake in The Economist Group. The Economist has been a top advertiser on Al Jazeera America during the past two months.   Pearson plc also owns the Financial Times. If Pearson plc officials are unresponsive to public concerns generated by this online campaign then Florida Family Association plans to publish more online campaigns to call on companies to withdraw their advertising support from the Financial Times and The Economist.   Americans need to know what companies are empowering Islamists.

The World History text book came under fire in July 2013 in Brevard County, Florida.  The Washington Times reports in part:

“The book has a 36-page chapter on Islam but no chapters on Christianity or Judaism,” said Florida State Representative Rep. Ritch Workman, in Townhall, about the Prentice World History textbook. “It’s remarkably one-sided.

Mr. Workman said the textbook, which has been on the Brevard County schools’ approved course list for three years, also rewrites the history of Islam. He looked through it and found the authors “make a very obvious attempt not to insult Islam by reshaping history,” Townhall reported.

“If you don’t see it from the eyes of a parent, kids are going to take this book as gospel and believe that Christians and Jews were murderous barbarians and thank God the Muslims came along and the world is great,” he said, as Townhall reported.

Here’s an example: Muhammad and his armies’ take-over of Medina states depicted “people happily accept[ing of] Islam as their way of life. It leaves out that tens of thousands of Jews and non-believers were massacred by [Muhammad’s] armies. It’s a blatant deception.”

At the same time, the book depicts Jesus as claiming to be the Messiah — but writes as fact that Muhammad was the prophet, Mr. Workman said in the Townhall article. Students in the class are also taught about the Koran and pillars of Islam.

“They don’t do that for Christianity,” he said, as Townhall reported. “That is offensive to me.”

“Some of the descriptions of the battles use the word ‘massacre’ when it’s a Christian battle and ‘takeover’ when it’s a Muslim battle,” said Amy Kneessy to Fox News. “In young minds, massacre paints a very different visual picture than a takeover or occupation — when in fact both battles were very bloody.”

The publisher, Pearson, denied any bias. But Mr. Workman said he was told by a spokesperson for the publisher that a Muslim cleric was hired to write the sections on Islam.

The School District of Brevard County decided to provide a supplement to the Prentice Hall World History textbook.

The Volusia County School board cancelled a public meeting scheduled for November 5, 2013 after the United States Department of Justice weighed in on the issue.   WFTV in Orlando reported in part:  The Volusia County School Board said it postponed its Tuesday meeting “in the interest of public safety.”  The district said it was contacted by the U.S. Department of Justice before the meeting was supposed to start and said “the nature of this information raised substantial safety concerns.”  The district said with the information it received, it decided to put more security measures in place to make sure everyone at the meeting would be safe.  The district said it doesn’t comment on procedures but did say there was no specific threat of violence.

If there was no specific threat then why did Eric Holder and Barack Obama’s Department of Justice weigh in on this issue?  Who filed the complaint that caused them to react?  The answer to the first question, because this administration is jihadi friendly.  Answer to second question, CAIR, most likely Hassan Shibly, executive director of CAIR Florida urged the Department of Justice to chime in like they have inappropriately done in many other matters.

The School District of Volusia County decided to continue to use the Prentice Hall World History textbook.

There are approximately 3,100 school districts in the United States.  Citizens should take steps to oppose this biased book if it is used in their local school district.  However, to confront this issue at the broadest possible level the company responsible for publishing this biased and misleading propaganda must be addressed.

Florida Family Association has prepared an email for you to send that urges Pearson plc officials to cease future publishing of the objectionable content and recall the book.  If the company ignores this request, especially after the public opposition in several school districts, then Florida Family Association will launch more campaigns urging advertisers to stop supporting the Pearson owned Financial Times and The Economist.

New Justice Dept. Report Criticizes FBI for Ties With CAIR

doj cair

DOJ: FBI failed to refrain from unnecessary contact with CAIR, to ensure FBI isn’t supporting extremist or terrorist ideologies.

by Ryan Mauro

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General released a new report about its investigation into prohibited FBI contact with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity. The report criticizes the FBI for failing to ensure compliance with the policy.

In 2008, the FBI officially ended its use of CAIR as a Muslim outreach partner after the organization was labeled an unindicted co-conspirator in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, CAIR’s fellow U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity, for financing Hamas. CAIR was listed by federal prosecutors as an entity of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee, a secret body it set up to advance the Hamas and overall Islamist agenda.

In April 2009, the FBI Office of Congressional Affairs said that “until we can resolve whether there continues to be a relationship between CAIR or its executives with Hamas, the FBI does not view CAIR as an appropriate liaison partner.”

The Justice Department report also quotes the FBI as saying the policy was enacted to “ensure that the FBI is not supporting individuals who support extremist or terrorist ideologies.” It also mentions that evidence presented during the Holy Land trial linked two CAIR-National leaders to Hamas.

According to the report, in July 2008, field offices were instructed to follow guidelines that included “refraining from participating in any CAIR-sponsored events, avoiding being photographed with leaders of CAIR, and not engaging with CAIR in events such as fundraisers.”

The FBI acknowledged that there were “many close relationships between various FBI field divisions and local CAIR chapters.”

Although the agency does not consider all CAIR chapters to be “affiliated with terrorist organizations,” it said, “in order to stop CAIR senior leadership from exploiting any contact with the FBI, it is critical to control and limit any contact…”

FBI field offices were told that if CAIR is their main primary point of contact with the local Muslim community, they must find another liaison.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz began the review in March 2010 and focused on five engagements between the FBI and CAIR from 2010 to 2012.

Obama’s Snooping Excludes Mosques, Missed Boston Bombers

images (2)Homeland Insecurity: The White House assures that tracking our every phone call and keystroke is to stop terrorists, and yet it won’t snoop in mosques, where the terrorists are.

That’s right, the government’s sweeping surveillance of our most private communications excludes the jihad factories where homegrown terrorists are radicalized.

Since October 2011, mosques have been off-limits to FBI agents. No more surveillance or undercover string operations without high-level approval from a special oversight body at the Justice Department dubbed the Sensitive Operations Review Committee.

Who makes up this body, and how do they decide requests? Nobody knows; the names of the chairman, members and staff are kept secret.

We do know the panel was set up under pressure from Islamist groups who complained about FBI stings at mosques. Just months before the panel’s formation, the Council on American-Islamic Relations teamed up with the ACLU to sue the FBI for allegedly violating the civil rights of Muslims in Los Angeles by hiring an undercover agent to infiltrate and monitor mosques there.

Before mosques were excluded from the otherwise wide domestic spy net the administration has cast, the FBI launched dozens of successful sting operations against homegrown jihadists — inside mosques — and disrupted dozens of plots against the homeland.

If only they were allowed to continue, perhaps the many victims of the Boston Marathon bombings would not have lost their lives and limbs. The FBI never canvassed Boston mosques until four days after the April 15 attacks, and it did not check out the radical Boston mosque where the Muslim bombers worshipped.

The bureau didn’t even contact mosque leaders for help in identifying their images after those images were captured on closed-circuit TV cameras and cellphones.

Reject Perez: Experts Demonstrate Why Senate Should Repudiate Labor Nominee

192435887

Tell your Senators!

Center For Security Policy:

Washington, D.C.:  On the eve of a confirmation hearing on the nomination of Thomas Perez, President Obama’s pick to become the next Secretary of Labor, the Center for Security Policy released a 20-minute video featuring comments by six prominent public policy practitioners and experts urging the Senate to reject this selection.  This “virtual press conference” (VPC) offers a litany of extremely troubling behavior spanning the nominee’s career prior to and during his tenure in his current position as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights.

The following participants and topics are featured in the “Reject Perez” video:

  • Frank J. Gaffney, Jr., President of the Center for Security Policy, hosts the VPC and addresses Perez’s leading role in the Obama administration-wide effort to embrace, legitimate and empower the Muslim Brotherhood and its operatives.
  • Chris Farrell, Director of Investigations at Judicial Watch, describes Perez’s radical political philosophy and conduct before and during his time in the Justice Department.
  • Anita MonCrief, who once was a member of the hard-left group, ACORN, and is now a voting integrity activist with True the Vote, discusses Perez’s troubling proclivities with respect to immigration and labor law stemming in part from his past-presidency of Casa de Maryland, an organization that helps illegal aliens violate federal statutes.
  • Hans von Spakovsky, former counsel to one of Perez’s predecessors as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, who decries the “toxic culture” and mismanagement inside that organization as a result of the incumbent’s leadership – and the prevarication he engaged in during the course of a highly critical examination of the Perez tenure by the Justice Department’s Inspector General.
  • Rosemary Jenks, Director of Government Relations at Numbers USA, who questions whether the Senate can responsibly entrust the U.S. Labor Department to an individual who has worked to enable illegal aliens to take jobs from American workers.
  • J. Christian Adams, a former career attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Voting Section details various actions – some taken personally by Perez and others by his organization on his watch – that have subverted the principle of equal justice under the law.

On the occasion of the release of the Reject Perez video, Mr. Gaffney observed:

Tom Perez is perhaps the most controversial of President Obama’s nominees to Cabinet positions in his second administration – and that is saying something in light of the competition for that dubious distinction.  His past record and present mismanagement, if not actual malfeasance, at the Justice Department should disqualify him from serious consideration for not only the job of Secretary of Labor, but for any position of responsibility in the U.S. government.

CAIR tells School: Don’t Criticize Hamas and the Taliban

Islamist Watch,  Mar 18, 2013

by Marc J. Fink:

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called for called for a Justice Department civil rights investigation against a small-town Washington teacher for “racism.” Her offense? According to Brigitte Gabriel of ACT! For America, “during a class on bullying, she referred to Hamas and the Taliban as examples of organizations that use violence to bully people.”

In a statement, the teacher said:

I explained to [the students] that I was not talking about Muslims and Arabs in general, but groups that chose to impose their will by training people to intimidate and kill other people. … It is related to a state mandate that public schools teach students about bullying and not allow it.

CAIR’s attack against the teacher is specifically aimed at the education system, threatening to constrict the capacity of our youth to comprehend the world. The implications of an education system dominated by the Islamist group are dire and in direct conflict with the American way of life.

Hamas Deliberately Targets Children. In 2011, the terror group launched an anti-tank missile directly at a yellow school bus. A 16-year-old boy, the only passenger on the bus, was critically wounded. The driver had just dropped off 30 other students. The New York Daily News called the attack “subhuman.”

Obama to Nominate Sharia Supporter, Illegal Immigrant Advocate as Labor Secretary

Thomas Perez

Thomas Perez

By Matthew Vadum:

President Obama reportedly intends to nominate in-your-face radical leftist lawyer Thomas Perez as his next Secretary of Labor.

Now an assistant attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice, Perez is a former top aide to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) and possibly a perjurer.

Perez led the Obama administration’s assault on voter ID laws last year.  As John Fund and Hans von Spakovsky report in Who’s Counting, as a member of the Montgomery County, Md., Council in 2003 he also tried to force governments to accept fraud-prone matricula consular ID cards issued by Mexican consular offices.  He was a board member of Casa de Maryland, an advocacy group for illegal aliens funded by George Soros and the recently deceased Hugo Chavez.

Perez is apparently in favor of Saudi-style anti-blasphemy laws.  In Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries offenders can be condemned to death merely for insulting Islam.

Amazingly, at a congressional hearing last year, Perez pointedly declined to rule out bringing such laws to the United States.  At the July 27, 2012, meeting of the House Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee on the Constitution, Perez refused to say whether he would uphold the religious speech protections in the First Amendment in the future.

“Will you tell us … that this administration’s Department of Justice will never entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion?” Congressman Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) asked four times to no avail.

Perez, like so many Obama administration officials, believes that America is a seething hotbed of “Islamophobia,” filled with ignorant racist rubes who irrationally fear the Muslim religion.  He has worked with hardcore Islamist groups such as the terrorist-linked Islamic Society of North America and applauded Islamists for lobbying against airline security measures.

Obama Administration Paves the Way for Sharia Law

Sharia-Law-in-Americaby William Bigelow, 6 Aug 2012 at Breitbart:

The most terrifying danger Americans face from a second Barack Obama term isn’t the economy, which is scary enough.

The most harrowing prospect is the Obama Administration’s passivity in the face of attempts to introduce aspects of sharia law into our legal system.  Now there is strong and open evidence of the Obama administration collaborating with Islamist activists to ensure the path toward sharia law is accelerated.

Just last week, Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division, was asked this question by Trent Franks (R-AZ), a member of the House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution: “Will you tell us here today that this Administration’s Department of Justice will never entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion?”

Perez refused to answer. Four times.

And why would Franks target Perez?

Here’s why:

Last October, at George Washington University, there was a meeting between DOJ officials, including Perez, and Islamist advocates against free speech. Representatives from the Islamist side included Mohamed Magid, president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). The ISNA was an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding trial in 2008, as well as functioning as a Muslim Brotherhood Front. The leader of the Islamist attack was Sahar Aziz, an Egyptian-born American lawyer and Fellow at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding, a Muslim advocacy group based in Michigan. At the meeting, the Islamists lobbied for:

  1. Cutbacks in U.S. anti-terror training
  2. Limits on the power of terrorism investigators
  3. Changes in agent training manuals
  4. A legal declaration that criticism of Islam in the United States should be considered racial discrimination

Aziz said that the word “Muslim” has become “racialized” and, once American criticism of Islam was silenced, the effect would be to “take [federal] money away from local police departments and fusion centers who are spying on all of us.”

And what was the response from Perez and the DOJ officials?

Nothing.

That’s right: no objection, no defense of our first amendment right to free speech.

Andrew McCarthy: Rule of Law, Equal Protection Threatened Under Obama DOJ

AIM:

Andy McCarthy twice addressed the AIM “ObamaNation: A Day of Truth” conference. The author and former federal prosecutor discussed the Obama Justice Department, under the leadership of Attorney General Eric Holder. McCarthy successfully prosecuted the Blind Sheikh, Omar Abdel-Rahman, for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

“What we’re seeing in this administration,” said McCarthy, “is not only an out-of-whack choice about what their priorities ought to be, but the actual use of political philosophy in deciding who gets prosecuted, and how cases get conducted—and that, for somebody who’s been inside the Justice Department, is an unbelievable thing…If you have a situation where the Justice Department is using politics in the actual enforcement of the law, then you don’t have the rule of law anymore, and you don’t have equal protection under the law anymore.”

In a later talk at the conference, McCarthy discussed his new book, Spring Fever: The Illusion of Islamic Democracy, which we will post in the near future. He also gave an interview at the conference, where he said that what’s happening in the Middle East “is not the spontaneous outbreak of democracy,” but rather the ascendancy of Islamic supremacism. McCarthy also observed that the only countries that practice slavery today are Islamic countries. He said that America and Islam are two different civilizations and that while we’re a freedom culture, in Islam “liberty is subordinated to ‘order’…sharia law.”

He added that what the media largely ignore is the fact that there is serious persecution of religious minorities throughout the Middle East. He indicated that of the worst 50 countries that persecute religious minorities today, 36 of them are Muslim countries.

You can watch his interview here:

And you can watch his talk on “Eric Holder’s Department of Injustice” here; or you can watch it here along with the transcript.

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION PAVES THE WAY FOR SHARIA LAW

Coming Fast and Furious to America: Shariah Justice

by Diana West:

Associate Attorney General Tony West: “I  truly believe John ["American Taliban" Walker Lindh] will have a lot to offer after his incarceration.” How about a spot on Tony-West-sponsored “Al Qaeda Bar” at Justice?

—

Just as Koran-Burning Rage 2012 must not be seen as an isolated event, but rather as a cycle of sharia ascendancy, or, as indicated in my last column, another notch in our decline into dhimmitude, so, too, the advance of  a leading member of the  “al Qaeda bar” into the highest reaches of the Department of Justice must not be seen as just one more signularly noxious incident in the life of our nation’s capital. This, too, is part of the tectonic shift under way.

Over at Pajamas Media, J. Christian Adams lays out the gruesome details of the elevation of Tony West to No. 3 man at Justice. Adams explains that West (zero relation) and his San Francisco law firm have represented “some of the most radical Islamic terrorist causes, including the American Taliban John Walker Lindh.”

Adams reports that, in his new position, West, who has brought into senior Justice jobs other prominent jihadist defenders, will be overseeing detainee policy at Guantanamo Bay.

It’s either a mad, mad, mad, mad world — or, as I believe, it all makes perfect sense. We are being taken down from within due to a potent nexus of fear, non-rational thinking and subversion.

First, beginning on 9/12/01, the Bush administration effectively outlawed the way public officials may talk and write and ultimately think about Islam by formulating the de facto and, finally, in 2008, the practically de jure lexcion that delinks Islam from its institutional lifeblood, jihad. The effect is to foil all rational appraoches to thwarting the Islamic threat. Since President Obama came to office, he has simply, if enthusiastically, taken the Bush policy of de-linking Islam from jihad, both violent and pre-violent, to its logical conclusions.

Thus we see in 2010, for example, the FBI’s National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) inviting Kifah Mustapha,  a known operative of Hamas, a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, to a six-week, “citizens’ academy” inside the top secret installation.

Thus we see, also in 2010, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, NCTC chief Michael Leiter and FBI Director William Mueller unable to comment cogently when I had the opportuity to quiz themone after another, on this egregious national security risk that they willingly incurred in the spirit of so-called Muslim outreach.

Thus we see in the summer of 2011 the abrupt cancellation of a conference at the CIA on Homegrown Radicalization due to pressure from a homegrown radical group, CAIR, whose co-founder Nihad Awad was identified by the FBI as a member of Hamas, a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood,

Thus we see in  Fenbruary 2012 MB-Hamas-linked CAIR strike again in pushing for the abrupt withdrawal by Gen. Jerry Boykin from a West Point prayer breakfast.

Thus we see, also in February 2012, the FBI “purge” hundreds of pages of anti-jihad material under the watchful eye of more MB-affiliated front groups.

Today we see the elevation of a leading member of “the al Qaeda bar” to a positon of control over Gitmo policy at the Justice Department.

The continuum … continues.

Notice anything else about these events?

They’re coming faster and more furiously.

Her book, The Death of the Grown Up: How America’s Arrested Development is Bringing Down Western Civilization was reviewed by Steven Emerson, who said it is “a must-read for anyone who wants to understand why … many in the West are apologetic when confronted with the excesses of radical Islam and what we need to do to win the War on terror. This is a phenomenal book that will truly alter the way you view society.”

Progressives, Islamists Huddle at Justice Department

Neil Munro

By  at the Daily Caller:

Top Justice Department officials convened a meeting Wednesday where invited Islamist advocates lobbied them for cutbacks in anti-terror funding, changes in agents’ training manuals, additional curbs on investigators and a legal declaration that U.S. citizens’ criticism of Islam constitutes racial discrimination.

The department’s “civil rights lawyers are top of the line — I say this with utter honesty — I know they can come up with a way” to redefine criticism as discrimination, said Sahar Aziz, a female, Egyptian-American lawyer.

“I’d be willing to give a shot at it,” said Aziz, who is a fellow at the Michigan-based Muslim advocacy group, the Institute for Social Policy & Understanding.

The audience of Islamist advocates and department officials included Tom Perez, who heads the department’s division of civil rights.

“We must continue to have the open and honest and critical dialogue that you saw in the robust debate,” Perez responded in an enthusiastic closing speech a few minutes after Aziz made her demands at the event.

“I sat here the entire time, taking notes,” Perez said. “I have some very concrete thoughts … in the aftermath of this.”

The meeting at George Washington University showcased the expanding alliance between American progressives and Islamists, said Andrew McCarthy, a former federal prosecutor in New York.

Progressives “are making these Islamist groups into the [political] representatives of Muslims in the United States,” he told The Daily Caller. That elevation of Islamists to a leadership role sidelines the majority of American Muslims who don’t want Islamist leaders, as well as American Muslims who are female or gay, he said.

McCarthy investigated and prosecuted Egyptian-born Imam Omar Abdel-Rahman, dubbed “the blind sheik,” for urging Muslims to kill New Yorkers. Abdel-Rahman was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1996.

Progressives ally with the Islamic lobby because “they think it will be a political voting bloc that will be reliably Democratic,” said Robert Spencer, an author and expert on Islam.

None of the Islamist advocates of civil rights officials in attendance, including Perez, objected to Aziz’s call for free-speech restrictions.

The event did not include Zuhdi Jasser, an Arizona Muslim, former naval officer and a co-founder of a coalition of modernist Muslim groups, the American Islamic Leadership Coalition. “The Islamist groups’ victimology feeds into the left’s propaganda that the right is anti-minority and anti-Muslim, so there’s a mutual political benefit there,” said Jasser, who clashes with Spencer over rival responses to the Islamist groups.

Nor did the conference include any influential critics, such as McCarthy and Spencer, who argue that Islamist terror attacks are partly motivated by Islamic texts. These texts include the Koran’s verse 9:5, which says “when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them.”

Aziz, however, used her invitation to argue that Americans’ fear of Islamists’ bombs has evolved into racism towards dark-skinned men.

The word “Muslim,” she said, “has become racialized. … I don’t accept this formalistic cop-out that this is all about religion.”

Aziz did not offer any evidence for her claim, which she said justifies the use of Title VI anti-discrimination laws against institutions and individuals who argue that Islamic texts spur Islamic violence.

This legal redefinition, she said, would also “take [federal] money away from local police departments and fusion centers who are spying on all of us.”

Aziz also argued against the commonplace police practice of informally talking with people in communities, including Muslim communities. “This has been a real problem with this outreach stuff,” she said. Muslims “are acting in good faith, and then they find their imams, who were going to outreach meetings, were being spied on,” she complained. “Some have been deported. Some have been prosecuted.”

In March, Afghan-born New York Imam Ahmad Wais Afzali was ordered deported after he admitted he lied to the FBI about warning a suspected Muslim terrorist that he was being investigated. That terrorist, Najibullah Zazi, admitted that he was planning to place bombs in the New York City subway. The imam learned about the investigation because he had offered to work with local police to help identify potential terrorists in his congregation.

“People are going in good faith” to talk with police, Aziz said. “They’re being very honest about what their grievances are. They’re telling the government, ‘This what we want you to do … [and] we want you not to spy on our community.’”

Dwight Holton, a Justice Department legal counsel based in Oregon, said the threat of criminal gangs or terror attacks justifies routine police contacts with locals. “When we go to a barber shop to talk to the community, we don’t tell them you can have a lawyer,” he said.

“You should,” Aziz immediately replied.

Aziz’s advocacy was supported by a second Islamist advocate, Islamic Society of North America president Mohamed Magid. He argued that “teaching people that all Muslims are a threat to the country… is against the law and the Constitution.”

Magid asked Perez to change the federal government’s rules governing terror investigations, for more private meetings with top justice department officials, for the reeducation of FBI agents, and for more people to oppose criticism of Islam, which he labelled “religious bigotry and hate.”

In 2009 the federal government named Magid’s organization an unindicted co-conspirator in the successful 2009 trial of three Muslims who smuggled $12 million to the Islamist terror group Hamas. Two of the smugglers received life sentences.

During his speech, Perez applauded the Islamist lobbyists for persuading government officials to end extra security checks on airline passengers from Nigeria and 12 Islamic countries. The checks were adopted in 2010 after a Nigerian Muslim tried to blow up a passenger aircraft on Christmas Day.

“What did we hear in the aftermath of that? We heard a lot of feedback from people in this room and from leaders across the country that we could be doing a better job [by ending the checks]… and a few month later, and thanks to you, we did just that,” Perez told the Islamist advocates.

McCarthy, the former prosecutor, said few people recognize the expanding alliance between progressives and Islamists.

Americans “don’t realize that Islamist ideology is collectivist and redistributionist, so it works seamlessly with the left,” he said.

“They disagree over gay rights and women’s rights, [but] on many big items they’re on the same page,” McCarthy added, citing Islamist groups’ support for the administration’s health sector law as an example.

Perez did not promise to meet any of the demands made by the Islamists, but he repeatedly promised extensive consultations and flattered the attendees, while speaking in a style that blended the cadences of an academic lecturer and a rural preacher. “There will be times where we have honest differences of opinion, but if we don’t talk and don’t actively listen and if we don’t reflect and recalibrate where necessary, then we won’t be doing our job, and you have our continuing commitment to that end,” Perez declared.

Progressives, including Holton and Perez, choose to ignore the Islamists’ stated goals, Spencer said. “They assume — and force us to assume on pain of charges of ‘Islamophobia’ — that all Muslims are moderate, peaceful and have no intentions of bringing Sharia [Islamic law] here,” said Spencer. “No amount of evidence to the contrary, no amount of jihadi plots, and no number of demands for accommodation of Sharia’s provisions, ever disabuses them of this dogma.”

Justice Department officials declined to comment to The Daily Caller.

When the session ended, Perez — a Maryland resident, a progressive and a former staffer to Sen. Ted Kennedy — climbed the stage to embrace Imam Magid, who was born in Sudan and trained at a Saudi fundamentalist seminary.
