UTT Throwback Thursday: Nurture Jihadis & Get Jihad

Understanding the Threat, by John Guandolo, June 7, 2017:

Jihadi is total warfare.

The kinetic jihad is most effective when the target community is softened up before violence is brought upon them and then driven into the arms of the suit-wearing jihadis after an attack.

On April 15, 2013 two muslims, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, remotely-detonated two bombs they placed at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.  Three people were killed, including an eight year old boy, and 260 people were wounded including 16 who lost limbs as a result of the attack.  Three days later, MIT police officer Sean Collier was assassinated by the Tsarnaev’s while on duty in his vehicle on campus. Later that night, the Tsarnaevs carjacked a vehicle and kidnapped the driver.  The driver escaped and helped police track the car to Watertown, Massachusetts where an extensive firefight took place in the early morning hours (12:30 AM) of April 19th between police and the Tsarnaevs.  During the assault, the Tsarnaevs used homemade grenades against the police.  Tamerlan was killed after he was shot and run over with the vehicle his brother was driving to escape.  Later in the day on the 19th, Dzhokhar was discovered hiding in a boat in a yard in Watertown.  After a confrontation, Dzhokhar was shot and then taken into custody.  He was found guilty and sentenced to death.

During this episode, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick literally shut much of the Boston area down during the manhunt for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and, from all accounts, he and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino earnestly wanted him caught.

Yet, these are the same men – Patrick and Menino – who, prior to the bombing, defended and publicly lauded leaders in the Islamic community who called for this type of behavior (jihad), and who represent known jihadi/Muslim Brotherhood organizations.

One clear example:  The Islamic Society of Boston’s (ISB) Cultural Center, also known as the Roxbury Mosque, officially opened in 2009. The ISB was founded by convicted and imprisoned Al Qaeda financier Abdurahman Alamoudi, and had as a founding trustee Yusuf al Qaradawi, the International Muslim Brotherhood’s most revered Islamic scholar and jurist.  Currently, renowned Muslim Brotherhood leader Jamal Badawi is a trustee of the ISB.  Badawi is listed on Muslim Brotherhood documents, declassified FBI documents, and other evidence as a senior Muslim Brotherhood leader who has served in leadership positions in numerous Brotherhood organizations, including as President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).

One more note, the ISB’s Cultural Center is operated by the Muslim American Society (MAS), identified by the U.S. government as the “overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States.”

A seven minute video, available HERE, was produced by the Americans for Peace and Tolerance detailing the links between the ISB’s Cultural Center and the support given by the Governor and the Mayor to one prominent Islamic/Jihadi leader, Imam Abdullah Faarooq.

This video is an excellent tutorial in how leaders like Governor Patrick and Mayor Menino collaborate with jihadis, wittingly or unwittingly, to make communities like Boston significantly more dangerous for its citizens.

Money to build the ISB’s Cultural Center came from Saudi Arabia, but support also came from the Boston Mayor’s Offfice when Mayor Menino sold the land to the Center – valued at over $2 million – for only $175,000.  Governor Patrick had a close relationship with several jihadi leaders in the Boston area, but none more noticable than Imam Faarooq, whom he publicly hugs in the video.

Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick hugging Jihadi Imam Abdullah Faarooq

This is the same Imam Faarooq who said, while defending captured Al Qaeda operative Aafia Siddiqui (a friend of the Imam):  “Grab on to the shovel, grab on to the gun and the sword.  Don’t be afraid to step out into this world and do your job.”

Yet, after the Boston Marathon bombing, suit-wearing jihadis conned Massachusetts officials to draw even closer so muslim leaders can work more closely to them.  The muslims objective, to continue to control the narrative.  “Islam is peace, and if you don’t regurgitate that we will blow up your city.”  Using the violent jihadis to push U.S. officials and leaders into the arms of suit-wearing jihadis.

Oddly, the Islamic leaders have yet to share the truth with their local/state/federal “friends” that jihad is an obligation for all muslims until the entire world is under sharia (Islamic Law).

And so the cycle goes.  The Muslim Brotherhood organizations across the United States have been the “birthplace” of jihadis in Chattanooga, Little Rock, Seattle, Ft Hood, Denver, BOSTON, and so many others, yet they are still operating.

And why do they do this?  Because this is what Islam is and this is what Islam requires.

This war will be won – or lost – at the local level.  Citizens must know the enemy and know who we are as Americans.  Know our founding principles and defend them.

The people of Boston have historically been strong and closely knitted together, especially in times of trouble.  Now they must come together to identify and crush the enemy in their midst.

Citizens in many towns around the nation need to do the same.  Yet, sadly, we are losing this war that most Americans do not even know we are fighting.

Dubai Security Chief Backs Trump Immigration Order

IPT, by John Rossomando  •  Jan 31, 2017:

A prominent figure in the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) security apparatus is endorsing President Trump’s executive order temporarily banning citizens of seven predominately Muslim countries from entering the U.S., the Jordanian news service Al Bawaba reports.

“We completely support Trump in his ban on entry to those who may cause a breach in America’s security,” Dubai security chief Lt. Gen. Dhahi Khalfan Tamim tweeted.

His country is not among the seven – Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen – covered by the executive order.

“Previous US administrations have embraced all the wanted men of the Arab world and those classified as terrorists. Trump, what you’re doing is right,” Khalfan wrote.

The UAE has cited security concerns for its own reluctance to admit Syrian refugees since the start of the civil war in 2011. After drawing criticism from human rights groups, UAE officials agreed in September to accept 15,000 Syrian refugees over a five-year period.

His support for Trump’s temporary ban generated criticism from Arab journalists such as Iraqi-American Steven Nabil.

“Marwan al-Shehhi and Fayez Banihammad were among the 19 terrorists of al-Qaeda who attacked the World Trade Center and other targets on 9-11, which led to the deaths of thousands of American civilians. They both had Emirati citizenship like Dhahi Khalfan,” Nabil wrote.

Khalfan is known for making irreverent comments.

He bucked the regional consensus last March when he expressed opposition to a Palestinian state, warning it would become another failed state. He also urged his Twitter followers not to treat Jews as their enemies.

In 2012, Khalfan launched a war of words with radical Muslim Brotherhood-aligned Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi. Khalfan threatened Qaradawi, who lives in Qatar, with an international arrest warrant after the cleric criticized the UAE for revoking the visas of Syrian residents who allegedly demonstrated against the Assad regime.

This spat with Qaradawi should be understood in the context of Khalfan’s criticism of the Muslim Brotherhood, which he has accused to plotting to topple the UAE government and wanting to impose Islamist rule in all Gulf states.

Khalfan’s anti-Muslim Brotherhood stance aligns well with that of his government, which pressured former British Prime Minister David Cameron’s government to investigate the Brotherhood. UAE officials also classified the Muslim Brotherhood and offshoots, such as the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) as terrorist groups in 2014.

Obama’s Dubious Mosque Choice

1345Barack Obama is scheduled to visit the Islamic Society of Baltimore (ISB) Wednesday, his first visit to a U.S. mosque since becoming president.

ISB leaders have amassed a record of support for radical Islamic causes over the years, including endorsing the Chechen jihad and Palestinian suicide bombings. Its former imam was active in a charity later linked to terror financing including Hamas, the Taliban, and for providing “hundreds of thousands of dollars” to Osama bin Laden.

More recently, a resident scholar described homosexuality as a threat to societal health, in stark contrast to the president’s views on the issue.

It’s safe to assume the White House vetted the ISB and found it an acceptable venue for a presidential appearance despite this history. And that is not surprising. The Obama administration has repeatedly embraced contact with the Muslim Brotherhood, repeatedly meeting with its officials during and after the Arab Spring while ignoringsecular democracy advocates. It praised the early tenure of Brotherhood member Mohamed Morsi when he briefly served as Egypt’s president. The administration also helped a Brotherhood delegation skip routine screening by U.S. Customs and Border Protection upon landing in America.

And, as we reported in December, a White House meeting also aimed at standing by the Muslim-American community featured representatives of Islamist groups, including some with consistent records of opposing U.S. law enforcement counter-terrorism efforts.

ISB officials have worked closely with one of those groups, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). In 2014, two ISB officials joined with CAIR in a news conference blasting Israeli military actions in Gaza. The conflict, known as Operation Protective Edge, started when Hamas operatives kidnapped and murdered three Israeli teens and continued its incessant campaign of firing rockets with the hope of killing Israeli civilians.

Those rockets were fired from densely populated areas, including near schools andhouses of worship.

But Hamas’ murders and ongoing efforts to carry out more were never mentioned by the CAIR and ISB officials. Instead, they blamed Israel when raids aimed at rocket launchers and other Hamas targets inadvertently killed and injured civilians.

ISB President Muhammad Jameel recklessly invoked “genocide in the name of self-defense” and said that, “as an American I am ashamed to stand here.”

Abid Husain, the ISB’s general secretary, joined Jameel in calling for the U.S. to pressure Israel into opening Gaza’s borders, ending an embargo that was enacted to stop the flow of weapons and materials used to make them.

“The U.S. government must not remain silent about Israel’s indiscriminate assault and unjust use of force,” Husain said. “The right of a nation to defend itself does not extend to unrestrained aerial bombardments of civilian populations and must be condemned.

Far from genocide, which is the systematic elimination of a people, and from an indiscriminate attack, Israel campaign against Hamas “went to extraordinary lengths” to minimize civilian casualties, said Gen. Martin Dempsey, then-chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. Israel dropped leaflets and called residents of buildings targeted for bombing in hopes the residents would heed the warnings and seek safer locations.

After the conflict ended, Dempsey sent a team of senior officers to learn from Israeli military leaders to study the tactics in Gaza to minimize civilian casualties. “In this kind of conflict, where you are held to a standard that your enemy is not held to, you’re going to be criticized for civilian casualties,” he said.

Another ISB official, resident scholar Yaseen Shaikh, sermonized against homosexuality as a mental disorder and “something which we despise.” The talk is dated May 2013, just weeks before he joined the ISB.

The Quran says “harm them” to those who engage in homosexuality, he said. “What does this mean? If it was not an aberrant act, if this was not a despised act, why would Allah … say, ‘Harm them’? Allah then says, ‘[Several Arabic words],’ ‘If they repent and they reform and they transform themselves and change, then let them be.”

As the Daily Caller reported, a past ISB imam worked with an Islamic charity latershuttered by the Treasury Department for supporting terrorists.

Mohamad Adam El Sheikh was a regional representative for the Islamic Africa Relief Agency (IARA) in Baltimore the same time that he was an ISB imam and director.

An archived ISB action alert says that the “Islamic Society of Baltimore was recently visited by an IARA representative who brought the attached pictures of atrocities committed by Russians against the Muslims in Chechnya.”

Although links to several pictures from the Chechen jihad are still available on ISB’s archived web page, the actual pictures are no longer accessible.

“Despite all of this, by the grace of Allah, the Mujahidin in Chechnya have been able to defend themselves and remains a formidable threat to heavily armed Russian Army. However, it is also our responsibility as Muslims all over the world to help them in their Jihad effort,” the action alert added.

The action alert further solicited donations “to help the Refugees and Mujahidin in their struggle.”

In 2004, El-Sheikh justified Palestinian suicide bombings, saying they are acceptable when “certain Muslims are to be cornered where they cannot defend themselves, except through these kinds of means, and their local religious leaders issued fatwas to permit that.”

Another page on the ISB’s archived “Official English Site” links to a feature on the “Jihad in Chechnya” on the Azzam Publications website. Azzam publications was an al Qaida-tied website that was “one of the most well-known supporters of jihad, or holy war, on the internet.” The site is replete with material promoting jihad and martyrdom operations and includes a photo and link to a biography of Osama bin Laden’s mentor,Abdullah Azzam.

Just after 9/11, the ISB hosted speakers who would become prominent advocates of jihad, including American-born al-Qaida cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed in a 2011 U.S. drone strike. Awlaki’s online sermons remain some of the most watched, most effective terrorist recruiting material online.

A page from ISB’s archived website links to the homepage of Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader Yusuf Qaradawi. Qaradawi has issued fatwas or religious rulings in support of terrorism and described suicide operations as “heroic martyrdom operations.” In a 2004 fatwa, Qaradawi called abducting and killing Americans in Iraq is “a [religious] duty.”

At a 1995 conference held by the Muslim Arab Youth Association (MAYA) in Toledo, Ohio, Qaradawi called for the “conquest” of Europe and America through Dawa, or proselytizing. “We will conquer Europe, we will conquer America! Not through sword but through Dawa,” he said.

The ISB’s leaders have had connections with radical Islamists and espoused extreme viewpoints throughout its history. Like a lot of mosques, it continues to segregate men and women during prayer, something American-Islamic Forum for DemocracyPresident Zuhdi Jasser called “gender apartheid.”

During an appearance on Fox News Monday, Jasser said he was insulted by the president’s choice of the ISB. It continues an administration policy of working with Islamist groups and ignoring Muslims like him who stand against theocracy.

“It’s disgraceful that this is one of the mosques – or the mosque – that he’s picked to be the first visit,” he said. ISB’s website looks like “a covert operation. There’s no name on it. It basically has pictures of individuals, but no names.”

For an event that is expected to focus on tolerance, diversity and inclusion, Obama made a puzzling choice in the ISB. Its leaders sympathize with terrorists, hate homosexuals and treat women as less than equal.

Al Qaeda financiers use Qatar for international activities

The Terror Finance Blog, by A. D. Kendall:

In addition to institutional and charitable support by Qatar, Al Qaeda and its offshoots (including jihadists in Syria and Iraq) receive substantial financial support from private Qatari donors and bundlers. Here’s a quick who’s who:

Abd al-Rahman al-Nuaymi

Abd al-Rahman al-Nuaymi

Abd al-Rahman al-Nuaymi:  The U.S. Treasury Department describes al-Nuaymi as “a Qatar-based terrorist financier and facilitator who has provided money and material support and conveyed communications to al-Qa’ida and its affiliates in Syria, Iraq, Somalia and Yemen for more than a decade. He was considered among the most prominent Qatar-based supporters of Iraqi Sunni extremists.” Al-Nuaymi transferred $600K to Al Qaeda in Syria in 2013, and sent $2 million monthly to Al Qaeda in Iraq for an undisclosed period of time. He is also described as an interlocutor between Qatari nationals and Al Qaeda in Iraq leaders.

Salim Hasan Khalifa Rashid al-Kuwari:  Treasury says al-Kuwari “provides financial and logistical support to al-Qa’ida, primarily through al-Qa’ida facilitators in Iran. Based in Qatar, Kuwari has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial support to al-Qa’ida and has provided funding for al-Qa’ida operations, as well as to secure the release of al-Qa’ida detainees in Iran and elsewhere.”

Abdallah Ghanim Mafuz Muslim al-Khawar:  According to U.S. officials, “Al-Khawar has worked with Kuwari to deliver money, messages and other material support to al-Qa’ida elements in Iran. Like Kuwari, Khawar is based in Qatar and has helped to facilitate travel for extremists interested in traveling to Afghanistan for jihad.

Khalifa Muhammad Turki al-Subaiy:  The UN describes al-Subaiy as “a Qatar-based terrorist financier and facilitator who has provided financial support to, and acted on behalf of, the senior leadership of Al-Qaida (QE.A.4.01). He provided assistance to senior Al-Qaida leader Khalid Sheikh Mohammed prior to Sheikh Mohammed’s capture in March 2003. Since that time, he has provided financial support to Al-Qaida senior leadership in South Asia.” Al-Subaiy served a brief prison sentence in 2008 before being released by Qatar.

Yusuf Qaradawi:  The Egyptian-born, Qatar-based spiritual father of the international Muslim Brotherhood sits atop a massive terrorist funding network including the “Union of Good” umbrella network of charities that funds Hamas. Qaradawi was also a sharia adviser for Al Taqwa which provided banking services to Al Qaeda.

PA, Islamists Push Blood Libel Against Israel

IPT News September 6, 2012

One of the most enduring anti-Israel slanders is the charge that it is persecuting non-Jews and destroying Muslim and Christian holy sites. These dubious claims continue to be made not only by international organizations, but by U.S. groups like American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
